The Storyline: Nice Catching You: A Holiday Love Story
What happens when the No. 1 college hockey star in the country falls in love—with a man?
Nick Johnson, a top prospect for a pro hockey team, has a secret: he’s gay. Tired of living in the closet for the sport he loves, he sees no way out.
Jacob Meyer’s string of bad boyfriends left him cynical about love. Instead, he focuses on his studies as a third-year law student. With a new job waiting for him, he’s eager to graduate and move on.
On a school-sponsored trip, Nick and Jacob meet in a most unexpected way. When Nick tells Jacob his secret, they decide to hang out, just as friends. But their attraction is too strong to ignore, and they soon begin dating.
Since Nick is a big man on campus, it doesn’t take long for people to notice his attachment to Jacob. All hell breaks loose when the relationship gets out. As the national media descends, university officials try to figure out how to solve their “problem.” Their efforts divide Nick’s team, inflame fans, and put Nick and Jacob’s futures in jeopardy. Will the men be able to survive a plot to destroy them without derailing both their careers?
Nice Catching You is an out-for-you romance featuring a lot of love, exciting hockey, and a beautiful holiday. There’s also plenty of steam and a very happy ending.

What I Liked
Admittedly, I did not know what to expect. This was my FIRST hockey romance book, and given I am not a sportsperson to begin with, I did not know what to expect. Well, I was BLOWN AWAY. This book had lots of elements to it that made it feel real. The characters were relatable. The situation was definitely relatable to as a gay man. I felt the book was written for me, given the main character, Jacob, had NO clue about hockey, just as I didn’t going into it.
A word of warning, don’t open the book to the table of contents and let it scare you. Yes, it has 45 chapters and an epilogue! However, they are fairly short chapters that switch between the point of view of Nick & Jacob. Actually, I really liked the short chapters, as it kept the story moving forward.
One of the items I liked was how the romance did take time to develop. Despite a love at first sight situation, well… love at first CATCH situation, the authors took the time to develop the relationship. Oh, but when the sex happens…whoa, it was hot!
THIS IS A HAPPILY EVER AFTER BOOK….but I am really hopeful that Nick & Jacob will come back in future stories!
Good read! No doubt about it.

Coffee Talk with Ryan and Joshua
As many of you know, I have a bit of a coffee addiction. This has developed into a little bit of a sub-theme to my site (BookGemz). I say it is being a father of three wonderful kiddos, BUT, it is more likely because I can never seem to set my book down to go to sleep once I am engrossed into it.
However, I have a small tradition of reaching out to the authors to connect on their favorite caffeinated beverages and other little tidbits. Despite the guys being swamped with their release, they were gracious in responding!
BOOK GEMZ: Are you coffee, tea or energy drink persons?
Ryan is a total coffee fanatic. Dark brews and espresso are his go-tos. Joshua is always telling him he’d mainline it if he could.
Joshua on the other hand is a tea person. Basically any type of black tea. He particularly likes the hearty teas.
Help keep my little site going for the benefit of all… Please use my buy links included. I also accept coffee!!
