A Standalone in a Series

Imaginary Lover by Morgan Brice is part of the Beyond The Realm: Remember series. Check Out my post on this awesome series here. This is a 8 book, 8 author series. Each book is set in its own world and can be read as a standalone novel. Each of the 8 authors spin a very different, romantic, and magical tale each with their own take on the same concept.

There’s no time. Remember…

The Storyline: Imaginary Lover

Cover Art

Cory Caldwell woke up by the side of the road with no memory of how he got there. He pieces together who he is but has no idea what happened to him.

Dark visions haunt him—flashes of blood, magic, and a brutal fight. Scorching dreams of a faceless lover offer no clues. His gut warns that something urgent is eluding him, and that time is running out. Worse is the sense of bone-deep grief as if Cory is missing part of his soul.

Desperate for answers, he hops a bus for Fox Hollow, a town famous for psychics, mediums, and those with supernatural abilities. Then a stranger calls Cory by name and casts a furtive glance around him. “There’s no time,” the man says. “I need your help. Remember…” Can Cory unlock his missing memories and rescue the stranger before it’s too late?

My Recommendation

This was my THIRD Morgan Brice gay romance book, just like the first two, it did not disappoint and will not be my last!

I really enjoy how she integrates the various characters from her books into each of the books. Honestly, I have not read many of her books (this is #3), but it feels like a highly interconnected world and not in a bad way. The connections are little remarks here or there, that remind you of the connection without feeling like you have missed something important. Morgan Brice built this world perfectly… without boring the reader to tears waiting for the story to start.

This book is well written, exciting, and HOT. All things I have come to expect from Morgan Brice. I look forward to her parlaying this novel into its own spin-off series. Yes, it was THAT good!

About the Author: Morgan Brice

Morgan Brice, Author of Huntsman

Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy male/male paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic fantasy and urban fantasy, and together with co-author hubby Larry N. Martin, steampunk and comedic horror, all of which have less romance, more explosions. Characters from her Gail books make frequent appearances in secondary roles in her Morgan books, and vice versa.

On the rare occasions Morgan isn’t writing, she’s either reading, cooking, or spoiling two very pampered dogs.

Little Things about Morgan Brice

Those who check out my blog from time to time know that I have hosted Morgan here a couple of times. One of those included an interview….here are a couple of interesting points. Oh, and go check out those other postings!!

The characters in all the Morgan Brice series (and all the urban fantasy Gail Z. Martin series) all cross over and know each other and show up in each others’ books! That is definitely the case in Imaginary Lover. There were characters I personally recognized from Treasure Trail, Huntsman, Witchbane, and the Badlands.

The Summoner was her first published book (under the Gail Z. Martin name) in 2007. The first Morgan Brice book was Witchbane in 2018.

When asked how she researches the physical romance scenes, she attributes much of it to beta readers….but that she also researches by watching gay porn. Her favorite porn star: Ryan Rose!

Used with Permission from Ryan Rose himself — Super Nice and REAL guy!
