A grieving wolf. A hunted fox. Fated mates, thrown together by chance, and the looming threat of a fabled Huntsman who might tear them apart forever.

Fox shifter Liam Reynard is running from a killer. He uproots his life to find sanctuary in Fox Hollow, deep in the Adirondack Forest in New York.

When his car breaks down, sexy wolf shifter Russ Lowe comes to the rescue, and one-touch makes it clear they’re fated mates. Neither man was looking for love, and both are still mending from a past heartbreak. When mysterious fires and disappearances threaten Fox Hollow, Liam fears the killer is hot on his trail. Can he protect the town and his fated mate from the evil hunting him, or will an ex-lover’s betrayal cost Liam everything he loves?

Huntsman is full of sexy shifters, hurt/comfort, second chance love, sincere psychics, hot first responders, found family, and fated mates. Intended for readers 18 years of age or older.

My Recommendation

This was my second Morgan Brice gay romance book, just like the first, it did not disappoint and will not be my last!  Despite being a story with shifters, it really felt like you were there. From the description of the town as they walked down Main Street to the cemetery setting and even included little touches such as tidbits of the small-town gossip. Morgan Brice built this world perfectly…..without boring the reader to tears waiting for the story to start.

I would be remiss to not mention the hot characters and scenes. How can you go wrong with a librarian and a hot fireman, let alone a wolf and a fox. The characters were well developed complete with backstories, past traumas, exes, and new romance jitters. I would whole-heartedly recommend this book!!

Interview with Morgan Brice

Book Gemz: How long have you been writing?

Morgan: I always tell people that I’ve been writing my whole life, but I’ve been published since 2007 (under my Gail Z. Martin name). I’ve been writing MM paranormal romance as Morgan Brice since 2018.

Book Gemz: What made you decide you wanted to put yourself out there to be published?

Morgan: I made up my mind that I wanted to be a writer when I was 14. I started out writing epic fantasy, urban fantasy, and steampunk, which I still write as Gail Z. Martin. Those books are 95% action/adventure, and only 1-5% romantic subplot (MF and MM). I fell in love with MM romance reading Supernatural slash fanfiction, which led me to read the published non-fandom MM romance. At that point, I decided this was way too much fun and I wanted to write what I enjoyed reading. That’s how Morgan Brice was born.

Book Gemz: Before you started, had you done any fan fiction? If so, what fandom?

Morgan: Yes, but it was a looooooong time ago! This was before the online fan fiction sites, when the only way to share stories was in person at conventions or in fanzines. Back then, I wrote in Star Wars, Hawaii Five-0, and several other shows you’ve probably never heard of.

Book Gemz: Are you in agreement that writing fan fiction is a great way to hone ones’ craft – why or why not?

Morgan: I learned a lot from writing fanfiction back in high school and college. It taught me that I could write stories that entertained people. My friends gave me a lot of good feedback and encouragement. It also taught me how to put a story together, and how to write a full-length book.

Book Gemz: Your first published book?

Morgan: The Summoner was my first published book (under my Gail Z. Martin name) in 2007. My first Morgan Brice book was Witchbane in 2018.

Book Gemz: What is your favorite sub genre to write?

Morgan: I love paranormal MM romance, and I would say that I write urban fantasy MM paranormal romance because there is a strong plot in addition to the romance. Probably 50% romance/50% danger/plot.

Book Gemz: Is there one genre you haven’t tried but you see yourself writing in the future?

Morgan: I love cozy mystery, but haven’t written any yet. I have a couple of cozy mystery series in mind, but I haven’t gotten to do them yet.

RESEARCH…

Book Gemz: How much research do you do regarding attitudes, sex scenes etc. of gay men? What methods do you use?

Morgan: I love my beta readers! I have a lot of beta readers who are gay men of various ages, life stages and relationship types. They have been wonderful about helping me stay accurate. I also read a lot of MM romance, watch gay porn, and I’m a regular reader of LGBTQ news and magazines like Advocate and LGBTQ Nation, among others.

Book Gemz: OHHHH…If you’ve watched gay porn, tell me your favorite movie and or star.

Morgan: Ryan Rose!

Who would you like to see…

Book Gemz: If your book was turned into a movie (we could all only hope).   Who would you like to see play your main characters?  Is there anyone else you would like to be involved in your movie? (Sorry, I know I threw two questions at you at once)

Morgan: I’m much more word-oriented than I am visually-oriented, so while I can describe a character in detail, I often have difficulty picking an actor to play the part. So I have to rely on my wonderful readers to ‘fantasy cast’ my books! As far as who else I’d like to be involved, if my books ever went to Netflix or HBO, I’d love to have Eric Kripke (The Boys, Supernatural) as the show runner. I’m a huge fan. He’d do it right!

What’s next…

Book Gemz: What are you currently working on?

Morgan: So much! I’ll have an original Fox Hollow story in a September Prolific Works giveaway, and another Fox Hollow novella in an October multi-author special series. I’ll also be working on the next books in the Treasure Trail, Witchbane and Badlands series, and some surprises, too!

Shhhh….Secrets?

Book Gemz: Got any little secrets for me???????

Morgan: The characters in all my Morgan Brice series (and all my urban fantasy Gail Z. Martin series) all cross over and know each other and show up in each others’ books! (There was a hint in Huntsman for regular readers when Jeffries said he knew a guy in Myrtle Beach….that’s where my Badlands series is set.)

About the Author: Morgan Brice

Morgan Brice, Author of Huntsman

Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy male/male paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic fantasy and urban fantasy, and together with co-author hubby Larry N. Martin, steampunk and comedic horror, all of which have less romance, more explosions. Characters from her Gail books make frequent appearances in secondary roles in her Morgan books, and vice versa.

On the rare occasions Morgan isn’t writing, she’s either reading, cooking, or spoiling two very pampered dogs.

Coffee Talk with Morgan Brice

My little blog has a coffee sub-theme to it.  Personally, I blame it on being a father of 3 young kiddos that I have adopted, BUT it is really because I have a hard time putting down a good book to go to sleep.  Given this, I have a tradition to reach out to all the authors I review to get and share some insight on their caffeinated beverage choices…Morgan answered the call!

Coffee

I am a coffeeholic, drinking a pot a day, sometimes more. I love the taste as much as I love the way it keeps me awake. I’ll do energy drinks if I’m traveling or at a convention because I can stick one in my bag and have it when coffee isn’t available, but it’s not my beverage of choice. I love tea on a cold winter day—a nice cinnamon rooibos to warm the bones. I was so sad when Teavana went out—they were my splurge!

When we remodeled our kitchen we splurged on a latte maker. We have definitely gotten our money’s worth several times over! I’ll put it up against most coffee I’ve gotten at chain restaurants—except for what I got in Rome. That was seriously good coffee! We had a cozy local coffee house, but it went out a couple of years ago. I need a good coffeehouse fix!
