The Storyline: Breath

A Mage’s List for Freedom:

1.    Escape his evil, controlling clan.
2.    Get a job.
3.    Work magic on HIS terms.
4.    Avoid all dragons.

Tori was doing great until sexy dragon Baldewin interfered.

Between the little gifts, constant protection, and the steadfast confidence from the overgrown lizard, Tori wonders if maybe that last step needs revising. He has no chance to consider it.

Not before trouble called Jaeggi REALLY hits. Now he’s on the road trip from hell to the one place he’d never thought would be a safe haven. A clan of dragons.

Assuming they make it, that is.

My Recommendation

What I Liked…

As I previewed a bit in my last review (see if here). I got to the end of the first book and immediately started BREATH that night, despite being 2 am. Well, this book delivered just as much as the first one. Again, it was a fast-paced book that incorporated drama, adventure, romance, magic, and of course: Dragons!

In their search for mages needed for their ultimate survival, Tori, happens to wander into the boundaries of the seeking spell. Setting off a series of events to persuade him to join their clan. There is some unconventional woo-ing involved…including socks. Yes, you read it correctly: SOCKS. Oh, and a gnome hunt!

Yep, the cast ancillary of characters still delivers! The first novel follows Cameron and Alric, whereas Breath has them in the cast and focuses more on Tori, the mage, and Baldewin, the head of the dragon guard. The authors even pull in members of the other major dragon clan (Ice Dragons) into this book.

There is adventure here also. OK, I am going to try to avoid spoilers: Car chase, magic fights, pissed off Fire Dargon and Ice Dragon Kings, attempted kidnapping, rescue the villagers… Now I am starting to sound like some of AJ’s out there tags she puts on her books!

Speaking of out there tags by the author, AJ. After sending her an email at 2am when I finished the first book and took her how much I enjoyed it. She said she might add a new tag: “Beware of sleep deprivation”

The Bottomline…

Breath is ABSOLUTELY on my recommend list. I am truly looking forward to the next book, not to mention all of them to follow. I can easily see this series going on for a while. This is my new favorite paranormal romance series!

Coffee Talk with Jocelynn Drake

As many of you know, I have a bit of a coffee addiction.   This has developed into a little bit of a sub-theme to my site (BookGemz).  I say it is being a father of three wonderful kiddos, BUT, it is more likely because I can never seem to set my book down to go to sleep once I am engrossed into it.

However, I have a small tradition of reaching out to the authors to connect on their favorite caffeinated beverages and other little tidbits.   Well, first was AJ, now it is Jocelynn’s turn!

Jocelynn: Contrary to AJ, I live and breathe caffeine some days. I can’t start my day without a cup of coffee. Though, when I go out, I don’t do anything fancy or special. I like a vanilla latte, but I do look forward to the salted caramel mocha each year. Mmmmmm….salty sweet.  I grew up on sweet iced tea, thanks to being a good southern girl from Kentucky. I still love a good iced tea without the sugar and I’ve come around to hot tea. My favs are an Earl Grey or a breakfast tea.

TIDBIT FROM THE AUTHORS:

“Jocelynn and I are working on Ravi’s book now, Blood. We’re ridiculously close to finishing.”
